log viewer for System Center 2012 Configuration Manager logs
Hi to all,
today I will show you a quick way how to review logs from your SCCM2012 (System Center 2012 Configuration Manager) and any new versions too if there aren’t any changes as well.In SCCM 2012 the trace log viewer name is CMTrace.exe instead of the well-known one - Trace32.exe. Don't be surprised as it is now part of the installation. If you start the CMTrace tool you will be asked if this should be the default viewer for .log files.
If you need to review any logs on the server side then you can find it here: [SCCM2012_InstallationPath]\Tools\CMTrace.exe
If you need to review any logs on the client side then it is available in the OSD (Operating System Deployment) as well. The path for the x64 is as follow:
[BootDiskDrive; usually x:]\sms\bin\x64\cmtrace.exe
And for the x86 architecture it is: [BootDiskDrive; usually x:]\sms\bin\i386\cmtrace.exe
In the next article I am still working on and preparing you will find the most common and not so much errors while using SCCM 2012 and how to resolve them.
Please note that you can view other log files of other apps as well you are not limited to using this great tool for SCCM logs only.
